About Me

My name is Becky Ray. I am the owner of

Oh My Stars Productions. I sell handmade greeting cards, crochet trim baby blankets and burps, crochet trim pillowcases, and necklaces. As I look back on my life, I have actually been enjoying these hobbies since I learned them when I was a young girl.

I have been scrap booking since I was 5 years old--in 1969. My first scrapbook was flimsy book of papers that I made into a scrapbook. This is a scrapbook of cards that were made by my kindergarten classmates for my birthday. I added to it the next year when I received birthday cards from my 1st Grade classmates. Throughout the years, I have made a number of scrapbooks--especially of my family. I even have a scrapbook labeled "My Ego Building Scrapbook". It is full of cards and notes that have been given to me throughout my life. Each of the noted helps to build my ego and make me feel good. One day, in 2002, while I was at work, a co-worker that also loves to make scrapbooks came to show me ome cards that she had made from a class that she had taken on card making. I fell in love with the idea and started making cards from my scrapbook scraps, punches and stickers. Before I knew it, my co-workers wanted to buy my cards and my family loved the cards that I gave to them. Now, I am making cards more than I scrapbook.
When I was 12, my Grandma Ray taught me how to crochet. My first project was going to be an octagon shape rug. When I first started crocheting, I guess I was crocheting to tightly and the beginning of my rug actually began to curl up a lot and it turned into a small hat for a doll. So, I began again and Grandma helped me to see what I had done wrong. I made a rug out of yarn that was orange, yellow and white (yes, it was the 70's). I continued to crochet--making a purse, some afghans, and a lap warmer that won 1st Prize at the Salt Lake County Fair. Then, one day, again, while I was at work, a co-worker showed me how to crochet with a really small hook and crochet thread instead of yarn. She showed me some different stitches and some tricks that helped me to make the trim look even more professional.

When I was 11, my 6th Grade teacher taught our class how to make Indian necklaces with seed beads. We learned a number of patterns including the candy stripe, arrowhead, and flowers. I collected a lot of beads and loved to make the flower necklaces the most. Now, as I have gotten older, I have found that I cannot see the seed beads as well, so I changed to different kinds of beads. I have a friend that has been encouraging me to sell on etsy. He makes some awesome glass beads. Then, this past summer, a friend of mine showed me how to make watchbands made out of beads. Since I am on the computer all day long, I found that I did not want large beads for my watchband or it would bother my wrist as I typed. However, I really like to change my watchband to match my outfit. Then, I found that I wanted to have a matching necklace. I am a large woman, so a small chain or even a medium chain, does not hang the way I want it to. So, I decided to make my own matching necklaces and to make them long so they will hang correctly. I am planning to add beaded watchbands, but I'm still wondering how to decide the size unless they are special ordered. We'll have to see about that.
